Join the eBike revolution! eBike FAQs
We often get asked whether eBikes are really as good as we make them sound: so we thought we’d answer a few of your questions right here. Hopefully, you’ll come away realising why we are so excited by these electric bikes – here are your top eBike FAQs.
Are eBikes expensive?
On average, you can expect to pay around $2,000 for your eBike. Whether you consider this expensive or not depends on your view of things: a top notch racing road bike could set you back over $5,000, while a 2-year gym membership can be almost $2,000. The average commuter could spend up to $200 (or more!) on petrol a week just getting to work, while train tickets and bus fares can add up quickly too. So: yes, eBikes are a significant purchase, but no; we don’t think they’re expensive in relation to the savings they can make for you!
How long will a single eBike charge last for?
Your eBike charge will last for around 90kms, depending on the terrain.
How long does it take to fully charge an eBike?
A full charge can take between 6-9 hours, depending on the size of the battery.
How fast can my eBike go?
Your eBike can travel at a top motor speed of 32kms p/h
Is it safe for me to use an eBike while pregnant?
Yes! Completely safe – our eBikes are weight-rated to 120kg, so your weight is not an issue while pregnant. Other than that, the risks are the same as with an unpowered bicycle.
Can I charge my eBike using a normal house power point?
Yes, your eBike charges using a standard 3-pin socket, and can easily be fully charged overnight.
Do I need a licence to ride my eBike on the road?
No, an eBike is considered a non-powered vehicle by MTA standards, so you are perfectly fine to ride without a licence.
Can I travel with my eBike?
Yes! Well, within reason – eBikes are ideal for taking along on your motorhome adventures, especially our folding eBike, the Robin, which is designed to be lightweight and to fit into small spaces. Using an eBike to explore a new city or town is a great way to get around.
What happens if my eBike breaks down?
If you have any problems at all with your eBike, simply bring it back in to us here at eBike Wanganui, and we’ll fix you right up. Your eBike comes with a standard 1-year warranty on parts, 2 years on the motor and battery, and 5 years on the frame.
